Moderated By: Dr Julia Sass Rubin
Associate Dean, Bloustein School @ Rutgers University
Julia Sass Rubin is the Associate Dean of Academic Programs, Director of
the Public Policy Program, and a Professor at the Edward J. Bloustein
School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University, New
Brunswick, which is located just down the street from here. Julia's
research and teaching is focused on nonprofit and public organizations
and processes and the intersection of education policy and social
justice. Julia earned her PhD and MA from Harvard University, an MBA
with distinction from Harvard Business School, an AB with honors from
Harvard-Radcliffe College, and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Alfred
A. Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University. Prior to
earning her PhD, Julia consulted for McKinsey & Company; worked in brand
management for the Procter & Gamble and Eastman Kodak Companies; and
taught strategic management and marketing at Assumption University in
Bangkok, Thailand, as a Henry Luce Scholar.

Robert Foran, MS
ARM Board Member
Robert is a passionate environmental and social justice educator with a deep commitment to youth empowerment and community engagement. With experience in public education development, curriculum design, and advocacy, he is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between young people, academia, and the communities affected by complex social and environmental issues. As a member of the Advisory board of ARM (additionally), he brings expertise in advancing health hygiene and dignity for those experiencing homelessness. Join him on the panel to explore how our youth can drive sustainable change through education, civic engagement, and activism, making a real impact in our world.
Brian McGovern, MSW, LSW
CEO, North Jersey Community Research Initative
Brian is currently the Chief Executive Director of the North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI). Before this role, he served as the Treatment, Prevention, and Support Service Director at NJCRI. Brian has also worked in healthcare at UMDNJ and Queens Health Network. With 28 years of experience, he specializes in providing and managing services for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and mental health disorders.
Melina Morris
Bombas Sr. Giving Manager
Melina leads the Bombas Giving Partner program, coordinates employee volunteer events, and provides support for the brand's social and partnership campaigns. Prior to Bombas, she studied political science at The George Washington University and served for 3 years between AmeriCorps' programs City Year & Jumpstart. Outside of the office, she can be found mentoring with Minds Matter, eating and exploring through Jersey City, and dancing with her nieces and nephews.
Richard Vernon
Executive Direcor, Shower Power NYC
After Richard Vernon spent a decade in disaster work, becoming increasingly involved in the homelessness space until life and opportunity lead him to the ED role with Shower Power. He believes homelessness is a disaster in its own right; an affront to the inherent dignity and worth of each and all of us. Richard believes universal hygiene justice is an essential component of justice for all.
Shabana Hassan, MSW, LSW
Manager, Covenant House
Shabana Hassan, deeply influenced by her grandfather's wisdom, is a passionate advocate for education and a catalyst for change. Her journey began with her family's immigration to the United States, leading her to embrace a career at Covenant House International, where she supports homeless youth with love and respect. With a background in Psychology and Criminal Justice, and a Master's in Social Work, Shabana now serves as the Career and Job Development Manager, empowering young individuals in the North to achieve their workforce development goals. She combines her grandfather's wisdom with her educational knowledge to offer unwavering support and unconditional love to the young people she serves.
